My New Business in Internet Marketing
I have just completed my five week course with Rob Cornish (actually there was a surprise sixth week we were told about after starting the course, so it was six weeks in all), and am now in the process of putting my Internet Marketing business together. Back on Facebook... for now?
Right, I'm back on Facebook for the time being. I finally figured out all the new privacy settings. Wow, it's so complicated now. Don't really want to spend so much time keeping up with it all so I will be spending a lot less time on Facebook from now on. I really can't be bothered with all the unnecessary new privacy complications, plus the new friend groups I am forced to have added to my perfectly fine groups list. As for the timeline, I don't like all that history showing on my profile page like that, it's awful. History should be automatically deleted after a few months. Facebook appear to be making a tonne of money from my discomfort. I have found a way to disable all Facebook adverts so they shan't be making money from me that way. As for selling on my data, are they doing that? All I can do about that is to make sure I delete old stuff. Need to find out how to go about that. Maybe create a new account every year and delete the old one? We'll see.

I have left Facebook temporarily
Due to privacy issues, and after having spent time trying to sort out other issues that prevented me using my Facebook account recently, I have decided to temporarily close my account until I get the time to sort it out. I am on Google+, so see you there if you have a Google account. What has changed on Facebook? Well, I had settings set so that only friends could view my list of friends, and only certain people could access my wall. Since the change over to the dreaded Timeline I just discovered that anybody can see anything, so I've closed my account to prevent any privacy issues. I have no idea when I will be back on Facebook, it could be a couple of days or a lot longer. To be honest I have had enough of Facebook and am only there for certain friends who don't want to move elsewhere.

Massive MSN Messenger AKA Live Messenger Security Hole(s?)
I've heard of this happening before but didn't think it was possible, and assumed people had clicked on an OK button or something without thinking, but yesterday it happened to me!
I received a MSN Messenger message, which contained garbage, from a friend. I replied to say I couldn't read it, assuming they were using a weird font that I didn't have installed, then just after I hit the enter key to send the message a "File Save" window popped up very briefly then vanished. After that I got a window up to say "Picture can not be displayed", above an OK button. Realising something odd was happening, I powered off my computer right away.
For those of you wondering why I powered off and didn't just click the "X" in the top right of the window to close the program, that "X" in the top right of the window can be programmed to do things other than exit a program! In fact, any button can be programmed to do anything, which may or may not be what it says it will do. When it comes to suspicious software, like trojans and viruses, it is often the case that the program isn't doing what it says it is doing.
Anyway, I powered the computer back on, hoping I had stopped the malicious program in its tracks, and searched Harding-Internet for the term, '"picture can not be displayed" msn messenger torjan', to see what came up. A couple of pages confirmed I had picked up a nasty trojan that bypassed my up to date AVG anti-virus software. Not a lot of info on the trojan, so it may be a new one, which would also explain why AVG didn't pick it up. I found this info: http://www.threatexpert.com . It isn't identical to the information on my computer, but close enough to be of the same family, so I used the information to remove the trojan manually. I then rebooted and all seems well.
I have no idea what this malicious program does, but I can't take the chance of having a possible key logger on my computer because I use it for banking and other sensitive tasks, including some of my income. Better to be safe than sorry.
I know, I know, I can hear you all telling me that I shouldn't be using the dreaded malicious software magnet, AKA M$ Windows, from Microsoft. I just haven't got around to sorting out a minor issue I have with Ubuntu on my laptop. I'm also looking at Sun OpenSolaris as an alternative OS.
Anyway, I did a bit of reading up on MSN messenger and discovered that there are a few very serious security holes that would make MSN Messenger unsuitable for use on any computer other than a perhaps a games computer where no important info is stored. Those pretty Winks you get from people are written in Flash and can contain any kind of program besides pretty pictures, sounds and videos. Winks are supposed to be protected by security certificates that only allow companies approved of by Microsoft to make the Winks. A group of frustrated programmers wanting their own design of Winks and not wanting to pay $3 or more per Wink (what a rip-off!) have already found a way around the Winks security on MSN Messenger, so I guess it's only a matter of time before some serious Wink viruses are doing their rounds.
All traces of MSN Messenger and MSN Live have now been removed from my computer, so those of you wanting to chat online with me, it's about time you got a decent chat program anyway, so look me up on Skype, Gizmo, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ or Google Chat. Email me if you need my contact info for those chat programs.

UFOs. Do you believe?
It's hard to imagine that a living creature could travel the vast distance from where ever the nearest planet with intelligent life may be to our planet Earth. If some UFOs do indeed come from another planet then perhaps the creatures that people claim to have seen are not really life forms at all, but very advanced robots or androids which would have no trouble at all in surviving such a long journey if there were no mishaps along the way. Maybe they are just probes sent out to explore space, but far more advanced than the probes we send out. I wonder why they are never detected on any equipment as they approach or leave Earth. Could it be that they are just never reported? Government censorship? Surely there are amateurs out there that can't be silenced by the censorship rules/laws? Even if the craft were too fast to be seen, surely they would cause some kind of disturbance that could be detected. Is it possible that there is a place on Earth that is making these craft and somehow managing to get the whole thing a secret?
If some of the UFOs that have been spotted are not from another planet, then somebody somewhere is managing to keep a very, very big secret! Of course, it is possible that these videos are all hoaxes.

See this recent footage from a couple of women with their phone camera. It has since been confirmed that many other people saw the same on that night, but the light beams were only picked up on camera. Read the comments on the newspaper story for more info on that.

Please don't confuse UFOs with Aliens. A UFO is simply an unidentified flying object. That's it. If someone threw a banana past your face & you didn't see what it was then it is a UFO until you go over to see where it landed and identify it. So, just because some one saw a UFO, it doesn't mean that it comes from outer space and contains aliens!
